Description:Westinghouse, a leader in commercial nuclear power, awards grants that support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education to promote knowledge and skills that will be needed by its future workforce. Schools or teachers who want their students to learn more about STEM through a hands-on project should apply for this grant. Any US elementary, middle, or high school can apply.

Any creative hands-on project dealing with STEM will be considered. Projects must be completed during the current school year. Grants can be used to help cover the cost of materials, supplies, and other expenses conducting local workshops or training sessions. Grants may also be used to compensate experts who come to work with students, but not to pay teachers or staff. In addition, funds may be used to purchase equipment or to provide field trip transportation, but not when these are ends alone. Equipment should be just one component of a well-planned project, integrated with other curriculum materials and activities.

Projects that involve students directly, and that incorporate community resources and utilize interdisciplinary or team-teaching strategies are preferred. Grant applications should be mailed to the address above and received by the deadline.
