Music Performance Attendance Grants

|Description:||The Sharon Gewirtz Kids to Concerts Fund provides small grants to provide the opportunity for children and youth to attend live performances of classical music and other related programming. Grants are open to schools and nonprofit music programs throughout the United States, and eligible applicants must demonstrate financial need to be considered. Grants are awarded one time, annually, and are made on a one-time basis.|
Classical music education (vocal or instrumental) must be the key component of any music program requesting a grant. Priority is given to requests for funds to purchase tickets for specific live classical music performances. Stipends and performance fees for guest instructors and musicians are also considered. Grant funds may not be used to pay regular music instructors, or for reimbursement of expenses that have already been incurred.
Eligible applicants are public and charter schools with music education programs for students in kindergarten through grade 12, and qualified nonprofit programs that directly fund music education for elementary and secondary students regardless of ability to pay. All applicants must have an existing music program and curriculum in place.
Note that the fund generally does not award grants to private schools that charge tuition.
The application form is available online. The completed application and required documentation must be submitted via email by the deadline. Requests should be for music performances and activities that will be held during the next school year (after September).
