Description:The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL)/Cengage Awards for Excellence in Foreign Language Instruction Using Technology are offered with the International Association for Language Learning Technology (IALLT). Awards recognize outstanding integration and use of technology in foreign language instruction at the postsecondary level. Two awards are presented annually: one to a foreign language educator at the two-year and community college level and one to a foreign language educator at the four-year and university level. Both classroom instructors and administrators are eligible for the award.

To be nominated, an educator must have a minimum of five years of teaching experience and hold current membership in ACTFL. Self-nominations are permitted and must be accompanied by a letter of support from an institutional officer of the educatorís college or university.

Candidates must submit evidence of how they integrate technology into their college-level foreign language courses. Evidence should include objectives and specific strategies using technology that contribute to the attainment of course goals within the framework of the National Standards for Foreign Languages. Supporting documentation may include letters from students, colleagues, school or institutional officers, and student course evaluations. This documentation may be submitted in the form of a PowerPoint presentation, short video, website, or other multimedia presentation.

All nominating materials must be submitted by the deadline using the ACTFL Award Nomination Submissions online system. The link is provided on the award information web page. Note that there is a drop-down menu for selecting the specific award.
