Description:The Oregon-California Trails Association (OCTA) is a national organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of overland emigrant trails and the emigrant experience. OCTA’s Outstanding Educator Award program recognizes outstanding achievement in educating students of various ages and abilities about the westward migration.

Nominations for the Outstanding Educator Award are open to any individual educators, group of educators or institution that contributes significantly to students’ education about the nineteenth-century westward overland migrations in the United States.

The five category levels for the award are: (1) elementary, primary, and intermediate grades; (2) middle school and junior high school; (3) high school; (4) postsecondary, college, university, and adult education; and (5) museum and institution.
Eligibility:Public, Private, Charter, Other (including homeschool, 501 (c)(3) organizations)
Award(s):Winners receive a cash award of $250.
Deadline(s):Nominations are due March 31, annually.
