Description:The purpose of the annual Thomson Reuters Outstanding Information Science Teacher Award is to recognize the unique teaching contribution of an individual as a teacher of information science. The award recipient must be directly engaged in teaching some aspect of information science on a continuing basis, in an academic or a nonacademic setting.

Nominees do not need to be associated with an educational institution; however, teaching information science must represent a significant work responsibility although it is not necessary to occur within the traditional classroom. Workshops, speeches, publications, and presentations, in addition to academic courses, can also be used to teach information science. Previous recipients of the award and members of the Information Science Education Committee during the year of the award are ineligible.

Eligibility:Public, Private, Other (including homeschool, 501 (c)(3) organizations), Charter
Award(s):Cash awards up to $1,000 are awarded, plus a grant of $500 for travel or other expenses to the grant recipient, contingent upon the winnerís attendance at the American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) annual meeting, and a grant of $250 to ASIS&T Headquarters towards administrative fees.
